1. hug hello and miscellanae

hello. i just got back from berlin, where i did my first big drag stage
performance of DIE ROBOTER RUBATO (piano solos of kraftwerk titles). needless to
say, it was a lot of fun and i wish you could have all been there (there was
room... ;)

the long delayed re-issue of SEVEN SOULS with bill laswell and william s.
burroughs, as well as several new remixes including one by yours truly, is
finally being released june 18 - i believe on mercury records. i will be dj-ing
at the release party (location to be announced), so email me if you are in new
york and want to know more. i'm afraid at this point i don't even know how open
of a party it will be, so no promisses....

haruomi hosono's label daisyworld is gearing up for the japanese release of
COUTURE COSMETIQUE (the u.s. version is currently available online from
caipirinha productions http://www.caipirinha.com/). the text has been translated
to japanese, making it about three times the original length, and they are doing
a lot of special packaging for it, so i'm really excited.

I have completed my next solo computer/ambient project MEANS FROM AN END
(http://www.comatonse.com/writings/means.html), and i'm in the
process of shopping it around. hey, before you go complaining about "another
ambient producer with a case of studio diarrhia," remember that DIE ROBOTER
RUBATO (released 2/97) was finished 6/96 and COUTURE COSMETIQUE (released 3/97)
was finished 8/96 - both of which were in production for over a year - so don't
confuse the recent surge in my releases with a decrease in production time....  
>8P  ;)

my current ugly task is rounding up distribution for the two new comatonse
releases... until then - buy direct!  :)

G.R.R.L. is my first all-rhythmic project, and the first comatonse release to 
be issued on CD (currently no plans for vinyl on this release). not unlike the 
eclectic mix of sounds and styles of my ambient projects, G.R.R.L. runs the 
gamut of electronic dance styles (including a few i don't particularly care for 
myself  ;)  - abstract drum & bass, minimal/mainstream technos, electro 
breakdance, '80s chicago house - and frauds a few styles of its own, including 
techxotica and electrocynicism. it also features a fierce & funny collaboration 
with chiu-fen chen called "china doll (kill all who call me)," which is a 
response to reckless orientalist fetishism in the electronica community (such 
as an over abundance of anime-emulating videos) - think of it as an homage to 
the frank chickens.
