One of electronic music's agent provocateurs, Terre Thaemlitz takes a reflective turn here, witha suite of somber piano versions of Gary Numan tracks that follow Thaemlitz's previous Kraftwerk piano tribute. At times discordant - as if Thaemlitz's hands can't keep up with the rush of music - Replicas Rubato turns classic synth pop into autumnal hymns, managing even to convert the groove of "Cars" into a dirge. Surprisingly affecting.
