Various "Synthetic Pleasures Vol. 2"

- Timothy Appnel

In Oculus, June/July 1997 No.6.3.

(Caipirinha) This compilation is yet another fine installment of progressive electronic sounds inspired by Director Iara Lee's philosophical look into the future of technology and culture. While volume one was a steady selection of listening music that was used as the soundtrack for the film Synthetic Pleasures, volume two is a bit more adventurous and varied. The collected tracks present a good variety of intelligent dance music such as trip-hop, ambient-techno, jungle and disco(?!) that can either get your pulse going or make you zone out.

Standouts include U.M.O.'s "U.M.O. Three," DJ Soul Slinger's "Musical Selection," Chugga's "Slots (Love Theme from Las Vegas)," and Single Cell Orchestra's "Knockout Drops."
