宮崎夏次系とやくしまるえつこの絵が表紙を飾る、10インチレコード型の雑誌・ファーベン2014が7月下旬に発売される。
「音楽を絵でリアレンジ」と題した企画では、ミュージシャンの楽曲をマンガ家がイラスト化。相対性理論「YOU & IDOL」を渡辺ペコ、やけのはら「CITY LIGHTS」を夏次系、七尾旅人「サーカスナイト」を関よしみ、大友良英「after 10 days」をほしよりこ、テイ・トウワ「GBI」を三宅乱丈が絵にアレンジしてみせた。
ファーベンは紙面から音楽が感じられる雑誌を目指し、今後は年1回のペースで発行される予定。創刊号のファーベン2014には冊子4冊とカードが封入され、100部限定でテーリ・テムリッツの7インチレコード付きLtd版も発売される。通常版は3780円、Ltb版は5400円。公式サイトでは発売に先駆け、先行予約を受け付けている。
Farben: the new Japanese cultural journal for collectors of audio, cinema and manga
Special collectors edition with 7-inch by Terre Thaemlitz (limited to 100 copies world wide)
Farben is a new Japanese cultural journal conceived and curated by renowned cinema scene writer Takashi Ujita. A series of texts and art prints are presented in the physical format of a 10-inch double vinyl sleeve.
The "A-side" sleeve contains 5 black and white art prints by famous Japanese manga illustrators who visually reintrpret Japanese pop songs, as well as a 30 page editorial interview with Ryou Takemoto (Japanese only).
The "B-side" sleeve contains a 27 page booklet of text (bilingual Japanese & English) and illustrations by Terre Thaemlitz, titled "Naisho-Wave Manifesto (Secrecy-Wave Manifesto)." In this text, Thaemlitz contextualizes her concerns with social media for the Japanese audience. The journal concludes with a 40 page movie scenario by Takashi Ujita (Japanese only).
In addition to the standard text edition described above, a special edition has been issued with a 7-inch record by Terre Thaemlitz, providing an electroacoustic audio accompaniment to her text:

This rare edition is limited to 100 copies world wide, 30 of which are only available through the Comatonse Recordings web shop. The 7-inch record sleeve is illustrated by Terre, printed on archival paper, and hand assembled by the staff of Nicolo.

一方でレコードがコレクションとして見直されています。
雑誌「ファーベン」は、レコードに倣って、
長く手元においておきたい雑誌、
紙面から音楽を感じられる雑誌を目指して制作された、
レコード型(10インチ)の雑誌です。
10インチサイズのレコードジャケットの中には、
各企画ごとの冊子が封入されています。
冊子A-1では、音楽を絵でリアレンジする試みに挑戦。
相対性理論の楽曲を渡辺ペコが、大友良英の楽曲をほしよりこ、やけのはらの楽曲を宮崎夏次系、
七尾旅人の楽曲を関よしみ、テイトウワの楽曲を三宅乱丈が書き下ろし。
その他、科学問題研究家の竹本良へのインタビュー、世界で活躍するテーリ･テムリッツによる
テキストとイラスト、6月14日公開の映画「私の男」(監督：熊切和嘉 主演：浅野忠信、二階堂ふみ)の宇治田隆史のシナリオを収録。
